How to design the ideal home office where you can work efficiently in a beautiful and well organized oasis of your own creation.

Many of us have the need for a home office whether it be because we are self employed, take work home, or have countless other reasons to need a clean space to sit down and be productive. This space needs to be organized but still inspire our creativity and motivate us when we have to get down to business.

TIP: Try using wall organizers such as cork-boards and dry-erase boards to get some of the clutter off your desk and make it easier to find.

TIP: Store things like office supplies in some interesting boxes to reduce visual disarray and add a personal touch to your space.

Just because this is a work space does not mean that it should not reflect you as a person. Your home office should be your own personal sanctuary filled with things that you love and pieces that inspire you.

TIP: Fill your space with things that make you happy, but DO NOT use this as an excuse to create clutter, be mindful of every piece you use.

TIP: Don’t be shy when it comes to color. From a splash of your favorite shade to a bold statement of color make your home office a place that inspires you or a place that offers you refuge.

Because we do need to be productive in these spaces, you have to make sure that you are comfortable in your office. Your home office should feel like any other part of your home (except it is just for you). When you feel like you want to be there and don’t have to be there, you will be more efficient.

TIP: Make sure you are getting as much natural light as possible, and if thats not an option, make sure you have a bright enough light source.

TIP: Bring a couch or a comfy chair into your space so you can take a second and relax every once and a while if you are getting too overwhelmed.

In the end, your home office should be your escape. Make it work and make it yours.
